    Description

Arditi means “the Daring”, and they where essentially trench raiding shock troops that attacked enemy trenches during friendly bombardment with grenades and daggers! Casualty rate was 30% on every assault and sometime entire units would be lost. They where volunteers only and got special training after being recruited from elite units within the Italian army like mountain troops. These fearless men contributed in a major way to the breakthrough on the Piave that in November 1918 made possible the final victory over Austrian armies. The unit was created in 1917 and disbanded in 1920. The name stuck and was used by Mussolini and anti fascist movements alike until 1975 when the 9the parachute regiment adopted their flag and traditions. The dagger is made from a Vertelli bayonet and was copied by fascist Italy during WW2. There are 2 versions made. Not the biggest or the most impressive dagger but a rarity to say the least! A nice piece of special forces history.
Last picture are the 3 different versions of this dagger. (not for sale)
